SIU invokes mandate following theft arrest in Napanee

By Hailey MacDonald Nov 3, 2025 | 5:16 AM

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate after one person was sent to the hospital following an arrest in a theft investigation in Napanee.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, just after 6:15 p.m., members of the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft at a retail location on Alkenbrack Street. The lone individual had already left the scene.

The individual was identified, and an arrest warrant was issued.

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, shortly after 10:30 a.m., officers located and arrested the wanted individual on Water Street.

While in custody, the individual required medical attention and was transported to hospital by officers.

As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.

No name was released.
