Two arrested on drug charges in Brighton following tip from concerned citizen

A tip from a concerned citizen led to a drug seizure and two arrests in Brighton.

On August 19, 2025 (Tuesday) at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of two individuals observed slumped over inside a vehicle on a commercial property on Elizabeth Street.

Upon arrival, officers conducted inquiries and determined that one individual was wanted by a neighboring police service. That person was taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately:

55 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
65 grams of suspected Cocaine
30 grams of suspected Fentanyl

As a result, Jennifer BLACK (51) of Port Perry, has been charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I substance – other drugs

Jason SZAKASI, 44, of the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs
Obstruct peace officer
Failure to comply with undertaking
Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution, or obstruct justice

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in October.
