Food for Learning seeking volunteers for upcoming school year

A vital program run by the Hastings Prince Edward Learning Foundation is in need of some additional helping hands for the upcoming school year.

The Food for Learning program ensures every student has access to healthy food at school and minimize hunger and food insecurity in the local region.

HPE Learning Foundation says it is looking to add to its complement of volunteers, with 750 lending their time to prepare and serve more than $1.5 million meals and snacks in local schools last year.

Food for Learning program coordinator Kerri Cooper says the need is greater than ever before.

“Two years ago, Food for Learning was supporting 1 in 4 local students – now, we are serving 1 in 3 local students,” stated Cooper.

“We’re calling on community members to help us meet the growing demand for feeding kids, and do even more this year.”

To sign up to volunteer, email info@hpelf.ca . If you have additional questions, call 613-966-1170 ext 62378
