Daylight Savings Time (DST) ends in Canada on Sunday, Nov 2 when 2:00am jumps back to 1:00am.
Due to the clocks reversing, this means an extra hour of sleep, but also means earlier sunrises and sunsets.
Switching back to Standard Time can throw off your schedule – here are some tips to navigate the first week of the change:
Go to bed earlier for a few nights to adjust, limit screen time before bed, soak up morning sunlight, stick to a consistent sleep schedule, and plan evening activities earlier while there is still daylight.
Quick check-list before the time change:
– Set your clocks back one hour before bed on Nov 1.
– Double-check your devices; most phones and computers will automatically change, but some may not.
– Drive carefully on darker evenings, especially on your Monday commute.
– Plan indoor lighting to combat the early evening darkness.
