A true mainstay with the Wellington Dukes organization has passed away.
Bob Lavender died Monday at the age of 76 at his home in Wellington.
Affectionately called ‘Bobbo’ by many a Dukes player, coach and fan over the years, Lavender, the brother of late Dukes founder Garry Lavender, was described as someone who gave back through his love of sports, be it as a player, teammate, coach, bus tour coordinator or fan.
He served various roles with the organization and in his later years, was a dressing room attendant for the Dukes along with his son Joey.
Lavender leaves behind four children, six grandchildren and two brothers, as well as many other extended family members.
A Memorial Service will be held in Lavender’s memory in the Highline Hall at the Wellington & District Community Centre on 111 Belleville Street in Wellington at 1:00 pm on Monday, Sept. 15.
