Week two action in Bay of Quinte Football kicks off today with the Centennial Chargers Seniors visiting Trenton Varsity Tigers at the Trenton High School Field at 3:00 p.m.
It is the first game for the Tigers and the Chargers look to improve on their 1-0 record.
This game sets up a big night on Friday at Mary Ann Sills Field, with the Bayside Red Devils taking on the Eastside Ravens.
The Junior game will kick off at 5 p.m., with the Seniors to follow at 7.
The games are open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to come out, wear school colours and support local high school athletes under the lights.
Fans are also asked to bring a non-perishable food donation in support of Gleaners Food Bank, helping families across the Quinte region.
“Friday Night Lights creates an incredible atmosphere for players and fans,” said Scott Symons, Coach and Conveyor.
“It’s a chance for the community to celebrate high school football while also giving back to those in need.”
Week 1 Game Summary
The Centennial Chargers opened their season with two offensively charged matchups against East Side.
In the junior game, the Chargers came out strong, defeating East Side 44–20. Special teams played a big role, with both kickoff and punt returns taken all the way for touchdowns.
The senior contest was much closer than the final score suggests. The game stayed tight until late in the second half, but the Chargers pulled away to secure a 56–34 victory.
