The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has released a new five-year strategic plan called Bright Futures.

RELEASE – With a renewed commitment to inspiring, innovating, educating and empowering, Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board introduces Bright Futures: 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, a future-focused, five-year plan built for action today.
Shaped by many voices from across our communities, the plan outlines the priorities that will guide decisions and actions from now through 2030.
“The new HPEDSB strategic plan, “Bright Futures: 2025-2030,” will have a direct and significant impact on students and the community by guiding the board’s priorities and decisions over the next five years,” said Dr. Kari Kramp, Chair of the Board.
Building bright futures for students
The plan is designed to empower students with the skills for success in a changing world. It focuses on four key priorities:
Strengthening Foundational and Real-World Skills: Educate all students with high-quality literacy, numeracy and essential skills to succeed in education, work and daily life.
Advancing Indigenous Education and Reconciliation: Embed Indigenous knowledge, perspectives and history throughout the education system while dismantling systemic barriers.
Promoting Citizenship, Well-Being and Safe Environments: Enhance equitable, inclusive, safe and supportive spaces that prioritize positive citizenship and well-being for students and staff.
Fostering Critical Thinking, Adaptability and Innovation: Empower students with the confidence and transferable skills necessary to navigate and contribute to a rapidly changing world.
Each priority is supported by measurable goals and success indicators that will be reported on regularly. The strategic plan is aligned with the Ministry of Education’s expectations and reflects the diverse needs of the 15,500 students and 38 schools across our system.
“This strategic plan is the result of extensive engagement with our communities,” said Katherine MacIver, Director of Education. “Our students, staff and families were clear that all students must have a variety of skills for their future. HPEDSB will equip students with those skills as we inspire and innovate for a bright future!”
