UPDATE – Bay Bridge reopened

UPDATE at 4:05 pm. The northbound lanes of the Bay Bridge reopened at 4 pm. The southbound lanes took about 10 more minutes to complete cleanup. There were no injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY – The Bay Bridge connecting Belleville and Prince Edward County was closed on Saturday afternoon following a collision.

The following message was sent to the media by Belleville Police around 1:45 pm.

There has been a minor single vehicle incident/collision involving a camper trailer on North side of the Bay bridge resulting in lane closures. At this time, there will be a minimum complete shut down of the Bay Bridge to facilitate the removal of the trailer.  We would like assistance letting the public know to avoid the area for the time being.

There is no word yet on injuries.
