The Central Lakes Association of REALTORS® (CLAR) has released its August 2026 Housing Market Reports, which show a total of 1,150 home sales across its six Regions during the month. Compared to July, sales activity eased across all CLAR Regions, while average price trends were mixed and year-over-year results varied by local market.
In Prince Edward County, 34 homes sold during August, with sales slightly higher than in August 2025. The average selling price was $676,905, compared to $764,362 the previous month. New listings declined month-over-month, while homes spent an average of 74 days on the market.
A total of 118 homes sold in Northumberland County in August, which is unchanged from August 2025. The average selling price was $709,023, which is an increase from the same month last year. New listings were 288, and homes spent an average of 49 days on the market.
In Hastings County, the average selling price increased 7.3% from the previous month to $556,108, and was also higher than in August 2025. There were 171 homes sold in August and new listings totalled 342, with homes spending an average of 50 days on the market. Both sales and new listings were also slightly higher year-over-year.
“August often brings a seasonal slowdown in housing market activity as summer comes to a close, and we saw that reflected in sales and new listing activity across our Regions compared to July,” said CLAR President Christine Riley. “However, the year-over-year figures provide an important perspective, with several Regions recording gains in average prices, sales activity or new listings compared to August 2025.”
