The heath unit that supports the broader Quinte and Kingston region, has issued a warning to customers of a business in Carleton Place.
SouthEast Public Heath has claimed in a statement, that a lapse of infection prevention and control has been identified at Galleria Nails, Spa, and Eyelashes.
Officials add that those who attended the McNeely Avenue business from July 4th to August 12th of this year, and had nail treatments, and waxing done, may have been exposed to equipment that was not properly disinfected and cleaned.
“These services are generally low risk for infections when infection prevention and control procedures are followed. However, improperly cleaned and disinfected instruments can potentially lead to transmission of blood-borne infections such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and to a lesser extent, HIV. At this time, no blood-borne infection has been linked to this location,” added health staff in a release.
Those who are at risk, are being advised to connect with their primary health care provider to discuss their personal risk, and possible testing options for Hepatitis B, C, and HIV.
SouthEast Public Health has noted that the business has taken immediate action and now meets full safety standards. Those who have additional questions are being advised to contact the health unit directly at 1-800-660-5853 ext., 2222.
