Following the success of the Belleville Caribbean Festival over the weekend, the Belleville Police Service has issued the following statement about relief efforts for Jamaica.
Jamaica Relief Efforts Update
Last November, the Belleville Caribbean Festival Committee, alongside the Belleville Police Service, Belleville Fire and Emergency Services, Quinte Broadcasting, the Belleville Downtown District, and community partners, came together to support those affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, much-needed supplies and financial donations were collected through drop-off events and donation locations across Belleville. Afterwards, the Belleville Police Service coordinated the shipment of these donations to Jamaica, ensuring they reached communities impacted by the hurricane.
We are pleased to share that the donations were successfully delivered and gratefully received by individuals and families working to recover and rebuild. The support provided essential items and served as a powerful reminder that people are not alone in times of hardship.
On behalf of the Belleville Police Service and our partners, we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who donated, volunteered, helped organize collection efforts, packed supplies, or otherwise supported this initiative. Your compassion and generosity made a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected, proving that compassion truly does travel far.
