Belleville Police are asking residents in the north end of the city to review their residential video footage and report any suspicious activity following several overnight reports in the area just south of Maitland Drive.
Over the past week, officers have responded to reports of two individuals observed on multiple properties between approximately 10:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. The individuals were reportedly seen checking vehicles parked in driveways, looking toward residences and, in some instances, entering backyard areas.
Residents are encouraged to secure their vehicles and report any suspicious activity to police. Anyone with video footage that may assist with the investigation is asked to contact Const. Isabelle Whittaker at 613-966-0882, extension 4250, or by email at iwhittaker@bellevilleps.ca.
Police will continue to have an increased presence in the area as the investigation continues.
Residents with security or doorbell cameras are also encouraged to enroll with CAMSafe. The voluntary registry helps police quickly identify cameras in an area that may have footage relevant to an investigation. CAMSafe does not provide police with live access to cameras; it allows officers to contact registered owners directly if footage may assist. Residents can register at camsafe.ca.
