Belleville Council is looking to put more guidelines in place when it comes to people signed by the city to their Family Physician Recruitment Program.
Council voted to approve the following motion in June.

That staff prepare amendments to the Medical Service agreements for Council’s
consideration and include the following:
1. Roster minimum of 800 patients for Nurse Practitioners and 1200 for medical
physicians.
2. Primary Care provider under contract with the City shall provide quarterly
reporting of patient rostering until minimum roster totals are met, after which
annual reporting will be required for the duration of the medical service
agreement.
3. Only roster patients with a home address in the City of Belleville.
The staff report on Monday will include wording to adapt the existing agreements to include those terms.

It may be important to note that as of the end of July, only 62 Belleville residents were on the
HCC list even though the Ministry of Health numbers estimate that approximately 7800
Belleville residents are without primary health care. Despite efforts by the Ministry of Health,
the Hastings Prince Edward Ontario Health Team and the City of Belleville, many local
residents refuse, or are unable to register for HCC. City staff are continuing their efforts to
encourage local residents to register for HCC.
