A local man has been charged in connection to a sexual assault incident on Canada Day.
Belleville Police responded to an apartment complex in the city’s east end regarding a report of sexual assault that day.
It was reported that a male drove a female to her residence and, prior to her exiting the vehicle, sexually assaulted her.
The next day, police charged a 26-year-old Belleville man with sexual assault and failing to comply with a probation order.
He was released with a scheduled court date in August.
