Members of the Prince Edward County OPP have charged two local drivers with impaired driving following separate investigations in Prince Edward County over the past week.
On June 26, shortly after 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover on County Road 1.
Upon arrival, police located a vehicle in the ditch.
During the investigation, officers observed signs of alcohol consumption, and the driver failed a breath sample.
The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
Chanel McKenzie, 20 of Picton, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero
Less than a week later, on July 1 shortly after 3:00 a.m., Prince Edward County OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at County Road 4 and George Wright Boulevard in Picton when a vehicle entered the checkpoint.
Police say the driver provided two breath samples into an ASD, both resulting in a fail.
Christopher Sampson, 41, of Picton, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Picton at a later date.
