Canada Day began with an inferno on the 401 in Quinte West.
Quinte West Firefighters responded to a fully involved tractor trailer carrying six vehicles on the westbound 401 by Aikins Road At 12.30 am.
The 401 westbound was shut down for about half an hour. No injuries. There was heavy damage to both the big-rig and the cars.
One lane was reopened around 1 am and they cleared the scene by daybreak.
There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
