A Belleville man turned himself over to police on Saturday, after a warrant was issued for his arrest earlier this month.
Belleville Police were called to the South Front Street area on Friday, June 19th just after 6 p.m. Officers were told that a man was physically assaulted by another person. The suspect was reportedly seen holding a knife. The suspect fled the area by the time police arrived.
Officers were told by the victim, that his ex-partner was the one that assaulted him. The victim claimed he was hit multiple times.
Belleville Police had a warrant out for the suspect, who showed up at the police station this past Saturday. The 43-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant. He is charged with spousal assault, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
He was held for a bail hearing.
