Belleville Chamber of Commerce President Sandi Ramsay was joined by City officials, Mayor Neil Ellis and Councillor Thompson to welcome Dr. Eghosa Desmond Irogue (MBBS PGCME MRCGP LMCC CCFP) to the official opening of his practice at the Bayview Mall Medical Clinic located inside Pharmasave.
Pharmasave’s manager, Hitesh Patel is happy to continue providing physician services and pharmacy under one roof in one of Belleville’s most accessible locations. Dr. Desmond was recruited in partnership with Verismo Health and the Bayview Mall Medical Clinic to replace Dr. Jeffrey Allin, who retired from the clinic in December.
The clinic is the second Belleville location now being managed by Verismo Health and will meaningfully expand physician capacity and patient attachment in the community. Its location inside a high-traffic retail anchor is a deliberate accessibility choice, low-barrier, familiar, and easy to reach by transit.
They first worked closely with the Geen’s Medical Clinic on an active patient attachment initiative and have been able to roster 1700 previously unattached patients at that first site in Belleville. Their work has been guided by a deliberate philosophy: attaching patients at a sustainable pace, matching individuals to the right model of care, and keeping continuity and equity of access at the centre of every decision. Verismo is currently managing and consulting with 80+ sites across the province with many more to come!
Hitesh Patel, who manages Pharmasave locations from Trenton to Kingston, first arrived in Belleville 20 years ago, and continues to embrace the sense of community he finds here. He also understood the need for his regular customers’ access to a primary care physician.
The clinic’s physician, Dr. Eghosa Desmond Irogue (MBBS PGCME MRCGP LMCC CCFP), brings a wealth of international experience to Belleville. A family medicine physician who trained at Igbinedion University in Nigeria, Dr. Irogue has practiced across West Africa, the Middle East, the United Kingdom, and most recently, Manitoba in Canada. Prior to his Canadian practice, he served as a Medical Teaching Fellow at St. George’s University in Grenada, contributing to the training of physicians now serving communities across North America and the UK. Dr. Desmond is looking forward to settling with his family the community and a fully booked first day suggests Belleville has already embraced him warmly.
