A dangerous assault resulted in a reported arrest and a long list of charges for a local man on the weekend.
Around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end for an incident where a female reportedly had a knife held to her neck by a male.
Officers on scene also heard that the male had uttered threats, stole money and personal belongings, and fled the area on a bicycle.
Officers located the male suspect nearby and arrested him for robbery and assault with a weapon.
During a search, officers also found a quantity of methamphetamine and cocaine in his backpack.
While officers were placing the male in the cruiser, he reportedly began kicking the outside of the vehicle.
Paramedics attended and transported him to a local hospital, where the male continued to be disruptive, yelling at staff and attempting to bite an officer.
A 40-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:
· Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
· Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine
· Robbery and wounding
· Assault with a weapon – spousal
· Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
· Assault a peace officer
· Resist peace officer
· Fail to comply with probation order X2
He was held for a bail hearing.
