The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte recognize its community with an annual event on Sunday and Monday.
National Indigenous Peoples Day is the same day as the summer solstice (the longest day of the year) and was chosen for its important symbolism.
The summer solstice marks a time of renewal, celebration and connection to the natural world.
Residents are advised that all Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte offices and facilities will be closed Monday. Operations will resume as normal Tuesday, June 23.
Please also be advised that waste collection will be pushed back a day.
There will be no collection Monday, June 22, East End will be collected Tuesday, June 23 and West End Waste will be collected Wednesday, June 24.
There are no changes to recycle collection.
The Waste Transfer Depot will remain closed Monday, June 22 and resume regular hours of operation Wednesday, June 24.
