Damage to school, portable toilet in Campbellford, two teens charged

By Brock Ormond May 12, 2026 | 4:17 PM

A late Sunday night break and enter incident has resulted in two teens being charged in the Campbellford area.

Around 11:50 p.m., officers responded to an alarm activation at a school, where reported damage was done to an entry point and evidence the building had been entered, with items reported stolen.

No suspects were located at the time.

Officers also attended a nearby school where graffiti was discovered on an exterior wall. A local Scenes of Crime Officer assisted with the investigation.

On May 10, 2026, around 2:00 a.m., OPP were informed that a portable toilet had been set on fire at a recreational park on Saskatoon Avenue. A description of the individuals believed to be responsible was provided to police.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., officers located and spoke with several youths in the area.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old male from the Township of Cramahe and a 14-year-old male from the Municipality of Trent Hills were charged with:

  • Break and enter – commit indictable offence
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property (three counts)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in June.
