By Brock Ormond May 12, 2026 | 2:28 PM

Belleville’s building activity is remaining behind through the first four months of this year by comparison to 2025.

The city’s building department noted in its recent monthly report that the number of construction permits issued from April of last year to this year dropped from 40 to 27, along with construction value going from around $8.5 million to almost $7 million.

The biggest permit on the list from last month was $4.4 million for a new commercial build project on 707 Dundas St. West.

Year-over-year construction value sits at nearly $18 million
