Busy past weekend for Belleville Police

Intimate Partner Violence

Saturday at 11:25am, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, it was reported that a male and a female were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation, during which the female slapped the male. As a result of police investigation, a 45-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged with Assault – spousal. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

 

Sunday around 11:40 p.m. Belleville Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the city’s east end. It was reported that witnesses observed a male choking a female before fleeing the scene.

Officers attended the area, spoke with the female victim, and subsequently located the male suspect a short distance away.

A 29-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with Assault – spousal.

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July.

 

Impaired Drivers

On May 8th at 9:24pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the city’s west end. It was reported that the vehicle was observed swerving across the roadway and nearly striking other vehicles. Officers located the suspect vehicle and observed it cross into the oncoming traffic lane.

Police initiated a traffic stop, spoke with the driver, and observed signs of impairment. As a result of police investigation, Nohelia Fargas, 45-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

 

Saturday afternoon around 12:20 p.m. Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop in the city’s west end.

Officers spoke to the female and observed signs of impairment.

As a result of police investigation, Terri Woodcock, 45-year-old Belleville woman of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.

 

Sunday at 2:18am, Belleville Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver on North Front Street. Officers located the vehicle, spoke with the driver, and observed signs of impairment.

As a result of investigation, Justin Garcia, 28-year-old Napanee man, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July.

 

Sunday at 12:50pm, Belleville Police responded to a reported motor vehicle collision in the city’s east end. It was reported that one vehicle struck another and then failed to remain at the scene.

Officers located the suspect vehicle a short distance away and, while speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.

Jason Hall, 51, of Pickering was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol

· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg

· Failure to stop after accident

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July.

 

Weapons

On May 9th around 10:20 pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of an altercation involving a firearm in the city’s east end. It was reported that a male was outside a residence in possession of a firearm and had pointed it while attempting to get the complainant to open the door.

Upon arrival, officers located the male and arrested him without incident.

Officers seized:

· 9mm handgun and magazine with 8 rounds

As a result of investigation, a 27-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:

· Assault with a weapon

· Carrying concealed weapon

· Breach of firearm regulation – transport firearm

· Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

· Pointing a firearm

 

Warrants

On May 9th at 12:39am, Belleville Police responded to a business on Dundas Street West regarding a suspicious incident. Officers attended and spoke with a male suspect.

Through investigation, it was determined that the male had outstanding arrest warrants with the Belleville Police Service for failure to attend court and break and enter.

Michael Mercer, a 44-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the arrest warrants and released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July.

 

Fail to Comply

On May 8th at 8:45pm, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a domestic dispute. It was reported that a male and a female were involved in a verbal argument. Upon arrival, officers located a female inside the residence and learned she was bound by conditions to not communicate with the male. As a result of investigation, a 43-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged with Fail to comply with an Undertaking X2 and held for a bail hearing.
