Community Futures partners launch Transition Program to support business succession planning

Frontenac Business Services, PELA Community Futures, and Trenval Business Development Corporation are pleased to jointly announce the launch of a new Transition Program designed to support the successful purchase and sale of existing businesses across their respective service areas.

The Transition Program addresses a growing need to facilitate business continuity as owners look to exit and new entrepreneurs step in. By supporting business transitions, the program helps retain jobs, sustain local services, and strengthen regional economies.

The program provides a coordinated approach that combines advisory support, business transition resources, and access to financing. Clients are supported through preparation, mediation services and access to a Transition Loan, which includes enhanced financial review support to strengthen transactions and reduce risk.

“Supporting business transitions is a critical component of economic development in our communities,” said Anne Prichard, Executive Director of Frontenac Community Business Services. “This program helps ensure viable businesses continue to operate, while creating opportunities for new entrepreneurs to step in with the right supports in place.”

Graham Copestake, Executive Director of Trenval Business Development Corporation, noted that on the heels of a successful pilot program, Succession Success, delivered in partnership with the City of Belleville, there is a clear and growing demand for programming of this nature across the region.

Developed collaboratively, the program reflects a shared commitment across Community Futures organizations to deliver practical, partnership-driven solutions that respond to evolving business needs.

The Transition Program is now available across all three Community Futures service areas.
