MPP Bresee positive on Ontario budget

Hastings – Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee says he is very proud of the Ontario budget released on Thursday.

His official statement on the new spending plan is included below.

STATEMENT FROM RIC BRESEE –

It was an exciting day today, as Min of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy released the 2026 Budget. A great package, focused on maintaining our strong provincial economy, building on years of big investments in infrastructure to build schools, hospitals and highways. 

These investments provide great jobs for people all over Ontario, and will provide the assets we need to keep growing and prospering for decades to come.

There are big investments in healthcare, education and energy production.

And for the dream of home ownership, we are rebating the sales tax on new home construction, saving the buyers up to $130,000. That will make home ownership more affordable for everyone, and spur on the construction sector, adding up to 21000 new trades jobs.

We are navigating these difficult times wisely and prudently, maintaining and improving the necessary services for Ontarians, lowering taxes, and improving opportunities for small businesses who employ hundreds of thousands of Ontarians.
