Quinte West celebrates Local Government Week Oct. 19-25

The City of Quinte West joins municipalities across Ontario in celebrating Local Government Week, Oct. 19-25, 2025.

Local Government Week raises awareness about the important role municipalities play in delivering essential services and shaping strong, vibrant communities. It also recognizes the dedication of municipal employees, elected officials and departments who work every day to support residents.

During Local Government Week this year, Quinte West is encouraging the community to learn more about how they can participate in local civic engagement.

With the 2026 Municipal Election approaching, residents can discover more about the roles that local, provincial and federal governments play, and how to get involved in civic life well before election day. Opportunities include joining a committee, subscribing to the City’s newsletter and participating in community events and programs.

“The decisions made at the local level directly impact residents’ daily lives, from road maintenance to recreation programs to the parks we enjoy,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison.

“Local Government Week is a chance for residents to learn more, get involved and help shape the future of our city. I encourage everyone to take part, whether by asking questions, joining a committee or preparing to vote in 2026.”

Throughout the week, the City will share resources on its social media accounts to help residents prepare for the 2026 Municipal Election, learn how to get more involved in local government and better understand the roles and responsibilities of municipal, provincial and federal governments.
