By Paul Martin Mar 13, 2026 | 5:12 AM

Two schools closed on Thursday in North Hastings because of power problems are reopening for Friday.

The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board says that the lights are back on at their schools in Maynooth and Coe Hill and they are open as usual for Friday.

Both Schools were both closed on Thursday because of power outages in the region.

Thousands were off the grid on Thursday, but most of the Bancroft area has been restored with only 1-200 locations in the immediate area still off the grid on Friday morning.

Snow is in the forecast for Friday across the Quinte Region, but school buses are running as usual (with some delays and individual cancellations possible) on the last day before March Break.

HPEDSB NOTICE – The power is restored at Maynooth Public School and Coe Hill School. Indoor temperatures are at normal operating levels.

The schools will be open on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Students and staff at Maynooth Public School and Coe Hill School should go to school on Friday.
