The City of Belleville is inviting residents to learn more about and provide input on the West Belleville (Loyalist) Secondary Plan a long-term planning framework that will guide future growth and development in the city’s west end.
The West Belleville (Loyalist) Secondary Plan will help shape the future of a significant area of the community, generally located east of Wallbridge-Loyalist Road, south of Highway 401 and north of the Bay of Quinte.
Once finalized, the plan will establish policies to guide land use, transportation, infrastructure, parks and natural heritage as development occurs over time.
The plan aims to support the creation of a complete and connected community with a mix of housing types, employment opportunities, commercial services and public spaces. Current concepts consider the potential for several thousand new residential units alongside supporting amenities and infrastructure.
Technical studies completed as part of the project are examining transportation networks, municipal servicing, environmental features and natural heritage to ensure future growth is well planned and sustainable.
The Secondary Plan will align with the City’s Official Plan and provincial planning policies to support responsible development while protecting important environmental features.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the planning process and share their feedback.
A statutory public meeting will be held before the Planning Advisory Committee on Tuesday, April 7, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the 4th Floor of City Hall, where the draft Secondary Plan and related Official Plan Amendment will be presented, and members of the public will have the opportunity to provide comments.
Project information, background materials and updates are available online at GetInvolved.Belleville.ca/West-Belleville-Secondary-Plan. Residents can submit comments by emailing planning@belleville.ca.
Following the statutory public meeting, feedback received will be considered as the plan moves forward through the municipal approval process.
