OPP issue travel warning because of freezing rain on Wednesday

By Paul Martin Mar 11, 2026 | 9:14 AM

OPP are issuing an advisory warning people about the potential dangers for motorists on Wednesday in Eastern Ontario.

OPP East Region made the following post on X/Twitter around 8 am.

Freezing rain is moving across the region and is expected to continue for much of the day. Avoid unnecessary travel. If you must be on the road, slow down and adjust your driving. In addition to ice build-up, watch for other hazards on the roads, such as tree limbs, trees or even power lines. If debris is blocking a roadway, call the local municipality. If you see a fallen power line, stay away and call Hydro One immediately at 1-800-434-1235. Check road conditions before you leave at 511on.ca and monitor local radio while driving.
