Community service groups will gather in Belleville on Thursday to jointly celebrate the difference they make every day.

The annual Joint Community Service Luncheon is being hosted this year at the Pentecostals of Quinte Church on Dundas Street West at noon on Thursday.

For more than 50 years, the Rotary Club of Belleville and the Kiwanis Club of Belleville have alternated hosting this long-standing event, which brings together service clubs from across the Belleville area to celebrate community involvement and collaboration.

This year’s luncheon will be especially meaningful as attendees recognize the legacy of the Kiwanis Club of Belleville, which has concluded its chapter after many years of dedicated service.

Throughout its history, the club has played an important role in supporting community initiatives and improving the lives of residents throughout the region.

Guest speaker Gem Monroe will share stories from his work as an author, educator, and humanitarian. Monroe has spent time working in the slums of Bangladesh, helping mothers learn to read so they can in turn teach their children—an approach that demonstrates the transformative power of education.

Service clubs from across the region have been invited to attend, making the luncheon an opportunity to strengthen connections among organizations committed to improving the community.
