Northumberland OPP has charged an individual following a complaint regarding a person on private property.

An individual was reported to have been trespassing on a residential property on County Road 45 in Roseneath and causing damage to a door on that property on Tuesday night.

After a description of the suspect was given, officers searched the area and eventually found the person and took them into custody around 11:45 p.m.

There was an increased police presence in the area at this time to assist with the investigation.

21-year-old Joshua Smoke of Roseneath was charged with trespassing at night and mischief under $5,000.

He will have a bail hearing in Cobourg next month.

At this time, Northumberland OPP advise that this in an isolated incident and not connected to the recent break and enter investigations which are on-going.
