Stirling-Rawdon Council could be on the verge of disbanding the municipality’s Business Improvement Area.
This week, council voted to receive a staff report it requested early last month outlining the steps to dissolve the BIA and its Board of Management.
Reasons previously expressed include the township’s struggles to find board members, lack of participation and engagement, and limited communication, resulting in missed opportunity for collaboration.
Also, staff stated due to limited funds available, the Stirling-Rawdon BIA does not employ any staff, and some administrative functions, such as bookkeeping, are performed by municipal
staff, which takes up extra time and limits ability to increase revenues.
It was noted staff issued a letter via direct mail to all 74 Stirling-Rawdon BIA property owners at the end of May of this year, with only two responses received.
