The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate and it’s following an arrest in Bancroft.
On Sunday, August 9, 2026, shortly after 8:00 a.m., members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual in relation to an ongoing investigation. While in custody, the individual required medical attention and was transported to a local hospital.
As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.
