Belleville Police have shared details below, about an incident on Saturday.
A weekend disturbance in the city’s east end has resulted in one man being arrested and a warrant being issued for another on serious weapons-related charges.
Shortly after noon on Saturday, officers were called to the area of Ann and Dundas streets following reports of a group causing a disturbance. Witnesses reported one man firing a flare gun, another armed with a knife threatening people, and others damaging windows at a residence.
Police determined that approximately six people were involved in the incident. The disturbance included one person being struck and burned by projectiles fired from a flare gun, another person being threatened with a knife, and damage being caused to a home.
Following an investigation, police arrested a 31-year-old man of no fixed address and charged him with seven offences, including Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, Assault with a Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Pointing a Firearm, and Failure to Comply with a Probation Order.
Following a weekend bail hearing, the accused was remanded into custody.
Police have also obtained a warrant for the arrest of a 38-year-old Quinte West man in relation to this incident. He is wanted on charges of Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, and Failure to Comply with a Probation Order.
Minor injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
