The Belleville Police Service is advising the public of a series of four recent daytime break and enter incidents at residential homes in Belleville, which investigators believe to be linked.
Occurrences in the Potter’s Creek, Parkdale, and Farnham Rd communities are believed to be connected. In some of these cases, there is evidence of pre-planning, including suspects observed in a parked vehicle monitoring homeowners leaving, or attending residences to knock on doors and determine whether anyone was home.
Several suspect vehicles have been identified and are actively being investigated.
The Belleville Police Service is urging the community to remain vigilant and take steps to enhance home security. Residents are reminded to ensure all doors and windows are secured at all times, including during daylight hours when the home is unoccupied. The use of alarm systems, exterior lighting, and video surveillance is also strongly encouraged where possible.
Police are also reminding homeowners to be mindful of unfamiliar vehicles or individuals in their neighbourhoods, and to promptly report any suspicious activity.
At this time, there have been no reports of injuries associated with these incidents; however, the suspects are believed to be targeting unoccupied residences and gaining entry through forced means.
Anyone with any information related to recent break and enter occurrences is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.
