UPDATE: 2 P.M. – Tornado Watch CANCELLED FOR entire Kingston, South Frontenac Area. Downgraded to Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
Environment Canada has issued a tornado warning this hour for the Kingston and South Frontenac area as the heat continues to build.
Meterologists are tracking severe thunderstorms that could possibly bring strong winds, intense rainfall, and large hail.
Environment Canada currently states that areas in the path include Kingston, Gananoque, Marysville, Codes Corner and Aylesworth. Officials are encouraging people in those impacted areas to take cover when threatening weather approaches.
The agency adds that tornado warnings are issued when a thunderstorm is producing or likely to produce a tornado.
As for the Quinte Region, Prince Edward County is currently under a Severe Thunderstorm watch.
Belleville, Quinte West and Bancroft continue to only be under the heat warning at this time.
