Belleville Police have arrested a man on a spousal assault charge following a confrontation at a city parking lot early Wednesday morning.
On June 24, 2026, at 12:36 a.m., Belleville Police responded to a report of an assault in the city’s east end.
It was reported that a witness observed a male punching a female in a parking lot. When witnesses intervened, the female fled the area on foot. Officers spoke with the male suspect, who remained on scene, and subsequently located the female to obtain further information about the incident.
As a result of investigation, a 41-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
· Assault – spousal
· Fail to comply with a probation order
He was held for a bail hearing.
