The Quinte West Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Southwell as its new Chief Executive Officer, ushering in a new chapter for the organization and the local business community.
The Board of Directors conducted an extensive recruitment process and is confident Southwell’s experience, local roots, and collaborative leadership style make him exceptionally well-suited to lead the organization into the future.
A lifelong resident of Quinte West, Southwell brings nearly 20 years of leadership experience spanning sales, operations, business development, and community-focused organizations.
Most recently, Southwell served as Executive Director of a local non-profit organization, where he spent the past two years strengthening operations, supporting programs for local families, and advancing initiatives that positively impacted the community. He has built a reputation for fostering growth, developing strong partnerships, and delivering meaningful results.
Prior to his non-profit leadership experience, Southwell spent 17 years in digital media and advertising sales, progressing through a series of increasingly senior leadership roles including Sales Executive, Insert Sales Manager, Sales Manager, and Director of Regional Sales. Throughout his career, he has successfully led high-performing teams and driven revenue growth across multiple markets.
“As a Board, we were looking for someone who could build on the incredible work Suzanne has done while bringing their own leadership and perspective to the role,” says Jeff McKerracher, President of the QWCC. “Joe impressed us with his experience, his passion for this community, and his genuine desire to help local businesses succeed. We have a lot of confidence in where the Chamber is headed, and we’re excited to have Joe leading that next chapter.”
As the new CEO, Southwell will focus on enhancing value and support for Chamber members, building collaborative partnerships throughout the business community, and helping strengthen a vibrant and resilient local economy.
“It’s an honour to step into this role in the community that raised me,” says Southwell. “I’m passionate about supporting our local businesses and working together to build a strong, connected, and forward-looking Quinte West. The Chamber plays a vital role in that future, and I’m excited to help drive meaningful growth and opportunity for our members.”
Retiring CEO Suzanne Andrews expressed her confidence in the Chamber’s future leadership. “I’m especially pleased to welcome Joe Southwell as the next CEO,” says Andrews. “Joe brings great energy, experience, and a clear passion for community. He understands businesses and what makes this community special, and I’m confident he’ll continue to build on everything we’ve accomplished together and lead with purpose and vision.”
