Major fire shuts down eastbound 401 at Grafton

There were major delays on the 401 approaching the Quinte Region on Tuesday following a fire on the 401.

All eastbound lanes and the off-ramp to Lyle Street North were closed due to a tractor trailer fire, which was reported on social media at 2:40 pm.

The closure caused extensive delays between Cobourg and Grafton for several hours, with the eastbound lanes only reopening Tuesday night at 11:22 pm.

There is no word yet on injuries.
