An impaired charge was laid against a Hamilton woman in Belleville on Sunday.
Around 10 p.m., two Belleville Police officers stopped at a business on Dundas Street West while on patrol. One officer entered the business while the second remained in the police cruiser.
While seated in the cruiser, the officer reportedly observed a vehicle drive over a parking curb before quickly leaving the area. Moments later, officers were approached by an individual who reported that the female driver of the vehicle had also consumed mushrooms.
Based on the information received and their observations, officers searched the area for the vehicle. A short time later, police located the vehicle at a nearby business and identified the female driver.
During the investigation, officers formed reasonable grounds to believe that the woman’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired.
29-year-old Camisha Quilty of Hamilton was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs and Operation While Impaired with a Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80 mg.
Quilty was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
