Canada turns 159 this week and the Quinte region is ready to celebrate.
In Belleville, festivities begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday July 1 at Zwick’s Park. A full day of music, food and special events ends with a fireworks display at dusk.
Admission is free but you can provide a $5 donation for parking, payable by cash or card.
Also, please note the following changes to City services for Canada Day next Wednesday:
· City Hall – Closed July 1.
· Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre – Closed July 1.
· Kinsmen Community Outdoor Pool – Closed July 1.
· Transit – Regular transit and mobility transit will NOT run on July 1.
· Leaf & Yard Waste Depot – Closed July 1.
· Thurlow Landfill – Closed July 1.
· Hazardous and Electronic Waste Depot – Closed July 1.
· Glanmore National Historic Site – Closed July 1.
· Belleville Public Library – Closed July 1.
· Community Archives – Closed July 1.
Waste collection schedules (including garbage, recycling and organics) will change during the week of Canada Day due to the statutory holiday on Wednesday, July 1.
Residents who normally receive waste collection on Tuesday, June 30 will have their collection moved to Monday, June 29. Residents with Wednesday, July 1 collection will have their waste collected on Tuesday, June 30.
There will be no waste collection on Wednesday, July 1. Collection schedules for Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3, will remain unchanged.
Residents are asked to place waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on their collection day to ensure pickup.
Enjoy familiar family-friendly favourites in Quinte West such as the Trenton Lions Club pancake breakfast, vendor village and food trucks, all-day entertainment and a fireworks display at Centennial Park.
Prince Edward County will be bustling with activity as well
Wellington will have a street dance and fireworks on Tuesday night June 30.
Daytime events will start at noon on Canada Day.
There will be celebrations in downtown Picton as well running from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.
