The mission to attach Hastings County residents to housing is progressing.

The County’s Community and Human Services Committee’s latest annual report showed 175 individuals and families moved into housing in 2025, a big jump from 111 move-ins in 2024.

Of those 175, 160 were still housed as of Dec. 31.

This leaves 256 people still in the County’s By-Name Database, a real-time list of those experiencing homelessness in Hastings County.

The BND is an integral component of matching homeless individuals and families to housing resources through Coordinated Access.

The County also had 3,789 households waiting for social housing as of December and managed to house 169 people from its waiting list during the year.

Additionally, the County continues to tout the success of local warming centres

Hastings County, in partnership with the City of Quinte West and the Town of Bancroft, operated warming centres for the 2025-26 winter season.

Both locations were open 12 hours nightly from December 1, 2025, until March 31, 2026.

The Bancroft Warming Centre operated from the new permanent location as a hybrid model which included two separate areas: a sleeping area and a traditional seating area.

The Centre operated for a total of 121 nights with 36 unique guests.

An average of seven guests attended nightly, of whom, an average of five stayed overnight.

A report the Quinte West Warming Centre also operated for 121 nights with 75 unique guests.

An average of 13 guests attended nightly, of whom an average of 12 stayed overnight.

The total cost of the warming centre program across both sites was $360,388.
