Hike for Hospice Quinte in May

By Paul Martin May 11, 2026 | 10:35 AM

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Hospice Quinte invites our community to come together for a morning that truly matters. Hike for Hospice returns to Centennial Park in Trenton from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., bringing people together in remembrance, in support, and in shared compassion.

May is National Hike for Hospice Month- a time when communities across Canada walk side by side to honour the care, dignity, and comfort that hospice provides. It’s a reminder that no one should have to face their final journey alone and that together, we can bring comfort and support when it’s needed most.

“Hike for Hospice is more than a walk” says Petra Lepage, Executive Director of Hospice Quinte. “It’s a chance to carry someone with you- to walk in remembrance of a loved one, to celebrate a life, or to support a family going through one of life’s most difficult moments. Every step you take is a step of care, of kindness, and of connection.”

Participants can choose a 2 km or 5 km accessible route and enjoy a welcoming, family- and pet-friendly morning. Along the way, you can carry a memory rock in honour of someone special and place a remembrance dove on the arbour- a simple, heartfelt tribute that becomes part of something larger: a community that cares deeply for one another.

Whether you attend with family, friends, coworkers, or on your own, you’ll be surrounded by others who understand the importance of showing up for love, for memory, and for compassionate care close to home.

Registration is now open at: https://hikeforhospicequinte2026.raiselysite.com/

Walk-ins are welcome on the morning of the event for those who prefer not to register online. If you’re unable to attend, you can still take part by walking on your own time during the week or by supporting a participant or team with a donation. Every step, every team, and every dollar helps Hospice Quinte continue providing compassionate, no-cost care to individuals and families in our region.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. To learn more, please contact matthewd@hospicequinte.ca or call 613-966-6610 ext. 223.
