Loyalist College is making it easier for students to plan and pay for college this fall through expanded bursaries, earlier access to funding and a wide range of personalized financial resources.
This year, Loyalist is introducing two significant enhancements designed to help students access funding sooner and reduce financial uncertainty earlier in the application process. The college will award $275,000 in donor-supported bursaries to eligible students during the spring and summer, allowing recipients to learn about available funding months in advance of their studies and move forward with greater confidence as they prepare to start college.
Loyalist is also increasing its fall entrance bursary program to a record $300,000 in need-based funding. This includes 300 bursaries valued at $1,000 each, representing the highest total funding amount, the highest individual bursary value and the greatest number of entrance bursaries awarded in the college’s history.
“Recognizing that affordability is a growing concern for students and families, Loyalist has made it a priority to strengthen how we deliver financial assistance,” says Mark Kirkpatrick, President and CEO of Loyalist College. “We want students to know that post-secondary education remains within reach, and that help is available even before they arrive on campus.”
In addition to entrance bursaries, Loyalist offers a broad range of funding opportunities designed to meet diverse needs, including supports for Indigenous students, varsity athletes and specific fields of study, such as the Schulich Builders Scholarship for programs in the skilled trades. During the 2025-26 academic year, Loyalist distributed more than $2 million in financial assistance to students.
Students and families interested in learning more can attend Loyalist College’s Paying for College Info Night on May 13. The event will bring together staff from across the college, including Financial Aid, Recruitment, Advancement, Career Services, Athletics and Indigenous Services, to help attendees explore scholarships, bursaries, OSAP and on-campus employment opportunities.
“As a small college, we are able to provide a more personal and approachable experience for students navigating financial aid,” adds Mark Kirkpatrick. “We know the process of paying for post-secondary education can feel overwhelming. Our goal is to help students understand their options and make informed decisions about paying for college.”
“For many students, planning for college starts with excitement, quickly followed by questions about cost,” says Dawn Price, Loyalist’s Coordinator of Financial Assistance. “The good news is that more assistance is available than many people realize. We encourage anyone with questions about paying for college to attend the event and connect with our team.”
