Collision with parked vehicles in Picton leads to impaired charges

An individual has been charged following a motor vehicle collision involving multiple parked vehicles in Picton.

On Tuesday, May 12 shortly before 8:00 p.m., officers with the Prince Edward County OPP were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of York Street and Elk Street.

Multiple members of the public reported that a vehicle had struck unoccupied parked vehicles.

Officers arrived on scene and observed significant damage to multiple vehicles.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Robert Hele, 37, of Hillier, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
