Building numbers steady in PEC in April

The start of construction on a new school provided a nice boost to the building numbers in Prince Edward County in April.

Officials with PEC Building Services released the overall numbers for permits issued and value of construction for the previous month on Thursday.

A total of 55 permits were issued in PEC in April for total construction valued at $24.1 million.

That compares with 58 permits for construction valued at $12.8 million for the same month in 2025.

The total number of new homes including secondary suites in April was 14.

The boost in the construction value was greatly assisted by a significant project in the community.

$17.5 million of the overall construction value was for the permit to build the new St. Gregory Catholic School on County Road 4.

They broke ground on that project back on April 22nd, less than a month after the permit was issued.
