Shelter in Place advisory issued as OPP searched for suspect Sunday night in Bath

A Shelter in Place advisory was issued as Lennox and Addington OPP were out looking for a suspect in the Bath area on Sunday night.

Officers responded to reports of a break and enter at a local business in the Village of Bath around 9 pm.

They issued the following notice at that time.

FIRST OPP NOTICE AT 9:10 PM SUNDAY ON X – L&A County OPP advising the public of an increased police presence around Country Club Dr. and Abbey Dawn Dr. area in Bath, as officers respond to a reported disturbance. OPP is asking people to avoid the area. If you are in this immediate area, please remain indoors with doors and windows locked. If you are outdoors, please seek shelter in a secure location and do not approach strangers. If you are driving, proceed to your location, and do not make unnecessary stops or pick-up hitchhikers. Officers are taking every precaution necessary to resolve this situation. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

They later posted this update an hour later, also on X

UPDATE – The suspect fled on foot, and a search of the area was conducted. The investigation is ongoing, as other officers are resuming regular patrols.
