Lost hikers rescued in Quinte West thanks partially to phone app

By Paul Martin Apr 6, 2026 | 5:00 AM

Two lost hikers were located successfully on Sunday in Quinte West thanks (in part) to the use of a key safety app on their phone.

At 3.45 pm, Quinte West Firefighters were dispatched to a couple who were lost on the trail from Frankford to Batawa.

Firefighters were dispatched with ATVs to search for the missing people.

Fortunately, the lost couple used the WHAT THREE WORDS app and Firefighters were able to locate them within minutes.

Hastings Quinte Paramedics also responded to the scene and examined them as a precaution.

There were no injuries.
