Quinte Region Source Water Protection Committee seeking new chair

By Paul Martin Apr 28, 2026 | 10:02 AM

Quinte Source Water Protection is looking for an enthusiastic Chair to lead the Committee and to help guide and implement important policies and initiatives related to protecting sources of drinking water in the Quinte Source Protection Area.

The Committee is made up of representatives from watershed stakeholders such as municipal, economic, agriculture, First Nations, and the public at large. The Committee, under the leadership and guidance of past Chairs, was responsible for preparing the terms of reference, the assessment reports and the Quinte Source Protection Plan that is currently implemented to protect local municipal drinking water systems.

Moving forward, the new Chair will continue to play an important role in guiding the Quinte Source Protection Committee in reporting on implementation of these plans and ensuring they remain relevant through future updates.

The Chair of the Source Protection Committee will be expected to:

•                    Chair regular meetings of the Source Protection Committee.

•                    Provide leadership to the Committee in the review and updates to the local source protection plan.

•                    Work collaboratively with local Source Protection Authorities to support municipalities and communities, implementing bodies and other stakeholders for the implementation of source protection plan policies.

•                    Provide on-going leadership to the delivery of the source protection program.

•                    Respond to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks for information related to the submitted plan.

•                    Raise awareness of drinking water source protection through speaking and other outreach events.

•                    Be the local champion for the source protection program.

Those interested who live, work, or own property within the Quinte Conservation Source Protection Area (as defined by the Clean Water Act, 2006), can apply online by submitting an application to https://www.pas.gov.on.ca/Home/Advertisement/1140.
