Belleville Police is honouring the dedicated men and women who serve as the first point of contact in emergency situations.
From April 12 to 18, the Belleville Police Service joins communities across the country in celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week,
“At the Belleville Police Service, our 911 communicators are the initial voice in every emergency and the constant presence behind every call,” said Belleville Police Chief Murray Rodd. “We simply could not function without them.
They are an indispensable part of our service, always alert and always ready, providing calm, guidance, and reassurance while protecting lives and supporting officers on the front line.”
911 communicators play a critical and irreplaceable role in public safety. From the moment a call comes in, they are dispatching officers with precision and relaying essential information. Their work ensures responders are fully prepared before arriving on scene, and it is fundamental to the safety and effectiveness of both our officers and the community.
“As a 911 communicator, I am proud to support our community during some of their most urgent and challenging moments. By staying calm under pressure and providing officers with critical information, I help ensure the safety of both residents and the officers who serve them,” said Lindsay Rhodes, one of Belleville’s skilled 911 communicators.
With calls for service increasing each year, the demands on 911 communicators continue to grow. Despite these challenges, their dedication remains unwavering.
To our Belleville Police Service 911 communicators and all public safety telecommunicators, thank you for everything you do. Your work is vital, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment to keeping our community safe
